Privacy Policy for OnlineNotepad.bitz

Effective Date: September 28, 2025

Hey there! Welcome to OnlineNotepad.biz.

Let’s be honest, nobody enjoys reading privacy policies. They’re usually packed with confusing legal jargon that makes your eyes glaze over. So, we're going to skip all that.

Our goal is simple: to give you a quick, clean, and free online notepad. Our approach to your privacy is just as simple. This page is our promise to you, explaining exactly what happens to your words when you use our site. No tricks, no fine print.

So, let's break it down.

Your Private Notes: The Ones You Don't Share

When you land on our homepage and start typing, where does that text go?

Right onto your own device. That’s it.

We have a nifty auto-save feature that saves your work every 30 seconds. But here's the key: it saves directly to your browser's local storage. Think of it like a digital sticky note that lives only on your computer or phone.

We, the people behind OnlineNotepad.biz, have absolutely zero access to these notes. We can't read them, we can't see them, and we certainly can't share them. They are stored by your browser on your machine.

What does this mean for you in practice?

  • It’s Private: Your grocery lists, your secret plans for world domination, your half-written novel... it all stays with you.

  • A Quick Heads-Up: Because it’s saved in your browser, if you clear your browser's cache or storage, your note will be gone forever. So be careful with that "Clear History" button!

The Notes You Do Share: Let's Talk About Links

Okay, so what happens when you have a brilliant idea and you hit that "Share Note" button?

This is the one and only time your note leaves your computer and visits our servers. It has to, right? How else could we create a link for you to share?

Here’s the process, step-by-step:

  1. You write something amazing and decide to share it.

  2. You click the share button. At that moment, the content of that specific note is sent to our server.

  3. Our server takes your note, generates a unique and hard-to-guess link for it, and shows it to you.

  4. You can then copy this link and send it to a friend, a coworker, or anyone you choose.

Now, here’s the most important part, and it's our core privacy promise for this feature:

Shared notes are automatically and permanently deleted from our server after 7 days.

We’re not in the business of hoarding data. You need to share something for a little while, and we’re here to help. After a week, that note will simply vanish from our system. Poof! Gone. We don’t keep backups of it. It’s deleted for good.

A word of friendly advice: treat that shareable link like a key to a room. Anyone who has the key (the link) can open the door and see the note for those 7 days. So, only share it with people you trust!

Do We Collect Anything Else?

We run this site for free for everyone. To keep it running smoothly and make it better, we do collect some very basic, anonymous technical data.

We're talking about things like:

  • Which browser versions are most popular among our users (so we can make sure the site works well on them).

  • How many people visit the site each day.

  • Which country visitors are from (but not your specific location!).

What are we NOT doing? We are not tracking who you are as an individual. We don’t know your name, your email, or what you had for breakfast. The data we see is purely statistical, helping us answer questions like, "Are more people using Chrome or Firefox?" not "What did Jane Doe just write?"

Our Simple Promises to You

If you're just skimming, here’s all you really need to know:

  • Your private notes stay on your device. We can't and don't want to see them.

  • Shared notes are temporary. They get uploaded to our server to create a link but are completely erased after 7 days.

  • We don't sell your data. Honestly, we barely have any data to sell! This is a free tool, and we plan to keep it that way.

  • No user accounts needed. You can use the site without ever signing up or giving us any personal information.

And that’s pretty much it. Our goal is to be a useful tool you can trust. We hope this clears everything up! If you have any questions, feel free to imagine sending them out into the universe, and we'll do our best to psychically receive them.

Happy typing!
